AI for Agriculture & Rural Communities

buildwithagora

Kisan Sahayak is a voice-native AI agent, built on Agora's Conversational AI Engine, that lets Indian farmers describe crop or field problems by speaking naturally — in Hindi, English, or a mix of both — instead of navigating apps, forms, or overloaded helplines.

Purpose: Give low-literacy, rural users a way to get help that matches how they already communicate — by talking, not typing — while keeping AI in its proper lane (information gathering, not authoritative diagnosis).

Goals:

  • Hold a natural, interruptible, real-time conversation that asks only the clarifying questions it needs, based on what the farmer has already said
  • Remember context across the call so the farmer never has to repeat themselves
  • Recognize its own limits — offer only general, non-authoritative guidance, and escalate anything uncertain or high-stakes to a human expert
  • Take a real external action: create a structured case (crop, symptom, location, urgency) and hand it off for human follow-up, confirming details with the farmer before submitting
  • Demonstrate, for the buildathon, that voice AI can meaningfully improve access to agricultural support — not just answer FAQs, but actually move a farmer's problem toward resolution
