Marine fouling, also known as biofouling, is a major challenge in the maritime industry, leading to increased fuel consumption, higher maintenance costs, and reduced vessel efficiency. Our project introduces an AI powered solution for marine fouling detection and classification, enabling ship owners and researchers to identify and categorize fouling organisms at an early stage. By training computer vision models on carefully curated datasets, the system can automatically detect fouling patterns on ship hulls or underwater structures. This reduces the need for manual inspection, which is often time-consuming, costly, and error-prone.
The solution can be deployed through a web application or mobile platform, where users can upload images or stream underwater footage. The AI model processes the data in real-time and provides insights about the type and severity of fouling.
