Foliolet: Share the Fact, Not the File.
Every day, we're asked to share entire documents just to prove a single piece of information. A landlord wants to check income eligibility, a recruiter wants to verify a CGPA, or an organization needs proof of age. But sharing a complete salary slip, marksheet or identity document can expose far more personal information than necessary.
We built Foliolet to solve this conflict between privacy and trust. Cropped screenshots can be manipulated, while sharing an entire document compromises privacy. Foliolet lets users disclose only the specific information required, without revealing the original document.
What We Built
Foliolet is a privacy-first, blockchain-backed document intelligence and selective-disclosure platform.
Users can securely upload documents or use our DigiLocker-assisted import workflow. Our document-processing system uses OCR and layout-aware extraction to identify relevant information, while Foli AI helps users understand their documents, ask questions with source references and uncover important legal fine print.
After reviewing and confirming extracted facts, users can selectively disclose information using salted Merkle-tree proofs. The original documents remain in encrypted storage, while cryptographic commitments are anchored through Solidity smart contracts.
Recipients can independently verify that disclosed facts belong to the committed record, without accessing hidden information or the original file. Foliolet also supports disclosure revocation, source-assurance indicators, document-integrity checks and tracking of facts modified after extraction.
How Can It Help Others?
Foliolet can make document sharing safer and more convenient for students, job applicants, recruiters, landlords, educational institutions and businesses.
For example, a student can disclose whether their CGPA exceeds a required threshold without revealing their exact grades or entire marksheet.
Our approach minimizes unnecessary personal-data exposure while providing independently checkable proof integrity. We also distinguish document integrity from issuer authenticity, which requires separate trusted verification.
Our Vision
We envision Foliolet becoming a privacy-preserving verification layer that integrates directly with trusted credential providers such as DigiLocker, universities and employers, enabling secure, purpose-specific information sharing across organizations.
Our goal is simple: Prove what matters. Keep everything else private.
