Localyst — AI-Powered Storefront Builder for Local Businesses
About the Project:
Localyst is a web application that empowers local service businesses—such as salons, repair shops, tiffin services, or small retailers—to instantly create their online storefronts using AI. Built with Next.js 14, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, Firebase, and powered by Google’s Gemini API, Localyst enables small business owners to go digital in under 30 seconds—without needing technical knowledge, designers, or developers.
Why I Built It:
During my interactions with local shop owners and service providers, I realized that most small businesses still lack an online presence. They rely heavily on word-of-mouth or local visibility, missing out on customers who search online for quick, nearby services.
However, creating a website or managing listings is time-consuming, costly, and technically complex for most of them.
That’s when the idea for Localyst was born — a solution that bridges this digital gap using Google technologies and AI automation.
How It Works:

The user signs in with Google OAuth for instant onboarding.

They simply describe their business in plain language (for example, “I run a home-based bakery in Lucknow”).

Gemini API then generates a personalized storefront with:

A business name suggestion

Logo and theme color palette

Service listings and descriptions

Contact details and location integration

The storefront is automatically hosted on Firebase and can be updated anytime.

The interface supports multiple languages, ensuring accessibility for local entrepreneurs from different regions.

Impact & Vision:
Localyst aims to digitally empower local economies, especially in tier-2 and tier-3 cities, where small businesses are the backbone of livelihood. By reducing the technical and financial barriers to going online, Localyst helps them compete in the digital-first marketplace.
In the long term, I plan to expand Localyst into a hyperlocal discovery platform, integrating Google Maps, Google My Business APIs, and payment gateways to make it a one-stop platform for both business owners and consumers.
