Educational communication is fragmented. Across schools and universities, teachers and faculty share updates through different chats and platforms, leaving students and parents to piece together notices, schedules, study materials and voice messages. Important information gets buried, files become difficult to find, and keeping track of what matters becomes a daily task.
Octo brings these pieces into one personalized conversational experience, starting with WhatsApp. It turns messages, voice notes, board photos and PDFs shared by educators into organized information that users can access by simply asking, “What do I need for tomorrow?” or “Where are the notes for this subject?”
Octo uses Sarvam’s OCR and Document AI capabilities to extract text from images and PDFs, alongside Sarvam LLMs to interpret messages, structure academic information and generate answers grounded in saved notices. Sarvam’s speech recognition and text-to-speech capabilities enable audio input and spoken responses, making information accessible through natural conversation in the user’s preferred language.
Through its Google Workspace integration, Octo organizes supported educator-shared PDFs into subject and chapter folders in a connected Google Drive. Dated academic notices can sync to a dedicated Google Calendar, bringing relevant requirements and schedules into an organized view. Users can request available files and Calendar links directly from the conversation.
Designed for students and families across schools and universities, Octo supports typed questions, voice messages and simple numbered menus. Personalization includes relevant class context, linked-child information where applicable, and saved language and audio preferences. Answers include source references so users can trace information back to the original educator-provided notices.
Octo’s vision is to become the intelligence layer connecting educational conversations, learning materials and schedules, helping students and families spend less time searching for information and more time acting on it.
