What the Project Is
“This project is a Real-Time Weapon Identification System using Deep Learning. It continuously monitors live CCTV or IP camera feeds and automatically detects weapons such as guns, knives, or rifles. Whenever a weapon is detected, the system instantly sends alerts with snapshots, timestamps, and location details to security staff.”
Why We Built It
“We built this system because traditional CCTV cameras are passive—they only record footage, which is usually reviewed after an incident has already happened. This delay makes it hard to prevent crimes. Our aim was to create a proactive solution that can detect threats in real time and notify authorities immediately, helping to stop crimes before they escalate.”
How It’s Useful to Others
“This system is useful for a wide range of organizations and communities. In public spaces like malls, schools, railway stations, and offices, it can enhance safety by providing early warnings.
