SmartTraffic is a vital tool for Delhiās traffic management. It continuously monitors and analyzes live video feeds using YOLOv8 for object detection and BYTETracker for reliable vehicle tracking. This real-time analysis provides accurate data on vehicle flow and congestion, enabling immediate adjustments to traffic signals and lane usage to ease gridlocks.
The project is especially useful in prioritizing emergency vehicles. By quickly detecting ambulances, fire trucks, and police cars, SmartTraffic can trigger dynamic signal changes to clear paths for these critical services, reducing emergency response times and potentially saving lives.
Moreover, the actionable insights generated support long-term urban planning, helping authorities make informed decisions about infrastructure improvements and resource allocation. In a city like Delhi, where traffic congestion is a daily challenge, SmartTraffic not only enhances the efficiency of transportation but also contributes significantly to public safety and environmental sustainability.
