How Does GDG New Delhi Shortlist Attendees for Events?
We have created this page to share how we shortlist people to attend the events. It is pure logic and not luck at all. The goal is to create a successful event which is useful for the attendees and creates an impact while helping people build their network and find more opportunities to collaborate.
Here is the set of criteria:
- Keep a good mix of regular and new attendees. For flagship events like DevFest, IO Extended, etc., we want more of who have been active throughout the year to be able to attend. However, for all other events, we keep a healthy mix of regular and new members.
- Diversity is of prime importance, not just gender diversity but also technology backgrounds.
- A completed Commudle profile and a well-filled registration form are the first things we check.
- Matching your skills and interests with the tech sessions. For example if an event is targeted at ML/AI professionals, preference will be given to professionals with similar skills/interests as compared to students, and, for a beginner friendly event we focus more on inviting students.
- If you have been sent entry passes in the past & did a no-show or were present uninvited at events, we tend to de-prioritize your application.
- The most important part is that though we want to invite everyone, we are always limited by the space/seat count at the venue. So we try to invite as many members as possible while respecting the venue's guidelines.
- Registering early does not mean that a seat is guaranteed. It does increase the chances.
