In today’s complex microservices architectures, gaining deep visibility and insights across distributed application components is critical to ensure seamless functionality, faster issue resolution, and optimal user experiences in terms of reliability and performance. As part of devFest 2024, New Delhi, my session, "Distributed Application Observability using OpenTelemetry," will dive into how OpenTelemetry—a flexible and open-source observability framework—empowers teams to gain comprehensive insights into distributed applications. As microservices grow in complexity, traditional monitoring often falls short, making OpenTelemetry’s end-to-end tracing, metrics, and logging indispensable and powerful tools. We will explore key OpenTelemetry components, integrations, and best practices, demonstrating how to capture meaningful metrics and traces for managing application health.
