The Agora Voice AI Hackathon by AI Mobile Coders, powered by Agora Conversational AI, is an online hackathon focused on building the next generation of voice-first mobile experiences.
The challenge is simple: build a mobile application where real-time voice is a core part of the experience.
You can build for Android, iOS, Flutter, React Native, or any other mobile framework. There are no predefined tracks and no fixed problem statements. Build whatever you think can make mobile interactions more natural, useful, intelligent, or engaging through voice.
Your app could be an AI assistant, tutor, productivity tool, accessibility solution, customer support experience, game, companion, developer tool, multilingual app, or something completely new.
Go beyond adding a microphone button to a chatbot. Think about what becomes possible when users can actually talk to an app, get real-time responses, trigger actions, access services, use tools, and interact naturally through conversation.
Use Agora Conversational AI for the real-time voice experience, and connect it with your choice of AI models, APIs, tools, MCP integrations, RAG, multimodal AI, maps, device capabilities, sensors, and other services to bring your idea to life.

I am new to Voice AI. Can I still participate?
Yes. The hackathon is designed for both beginners and experienced developers. Start with the provided quickstart, get the basic experience working, and then focus on building your idea.
Will there be technical support during the hackathon?
Yes. Participants will have access to technical sessions, resources, mentorship, and community support to help them build with Agora Conversational AI.
Will participants receive certificates and swag?
Eligible participants can receive certificates, and selected participants may receive Agora and AI Mobile Coders swag according to the hackathon rules.
What will projects be judged on?
Projects will be evaluated on factors such as innovation, mobile experience, meaningful use of real-time Voice AI, technical execution, user experience, and real-world potential.
What should the final submission include?
Your submission should clearly demonstrate your project and how it uses Agora Conversational AI. Can I participate individually or as a team?
You must participate individually.
Can I use an existing project?
You may use existing libraries, frameworks, APIs, and reusable components, but the project submitted for the hackathon should contain meaningful work completed for the hackathon. Any significant pre-existing work should be clearly disclosed in your submission.
Can I build something that is not an AI assistant?
Absolutely. Your project could be a game, accessibility experience, productivity tool, education app, companion, developer tool, customer experience, multilingual application, or something completely different. We encourage ideas beyond traditional assistants and chatbots.
Can I submit the quickstart project itself?
No. The quickstart is provided as a starting point. Your submission should demonstrate your own idea, experience, functionality, or meaningful improvements beyond the sample.
How do I get started?

Can I use other AI models, APIs, and tools?
Yes. You can extend your project with AI models, APIs, MCP integrations, tool calling, RAG, multimodal AI, databases, maps, mobile device capabilities, sensors, and other services. Your overall technology stack is up to you.
Do I have to use Agora Conversational AI?
Yes. Your project should use Agora Conversational AI as a meaningful part of the real-time voice experience.
Are there predefined tracks or problem statements?
No. There is one open innovation track, and you are free to build any mobile Voice AI experience you want. The examples mentioned on the page are only for inspiration and are not separate tracks or mandatory problem statements.
Is this hackathon only for mobile applications?
Yes. This is an AI Mobile Coders hackathon, so your final project should be a mobile application or mobile-first experience. You can build using Android, iOS, Flutter, React Native, or another mobile development framework.
Who can participate?
The hackathon is open to mobile developers, students, professionals, startup teams, indie hackers, and AI builders of all experience levels. You do not need prior experience with Agora or Voice AI.
