Hackathon 101: Understanding Whys, Hows & AI

This session is designed to help participants move from vague ideas to clearly defined, buildable solutions in a hackathon setting. The module focuses on how to identify the right problem, understand its real-world context, and structure a solution that is both technically feasible and impactful.

Participants will learn how to evaluate problem statements, break them down into what is being built, why it matters, and who it is meant for, and translate these insights into an implementable project roadmap. The session also covers how and where AI, especially Agentic AI, fits naturally into problem-solving, avoiding superficial or forced usage.

By the end of the module, participants will have a structured approach to problem selection, solution framing, and AI integration, enabling them to make informed decisions throughout the hackathon and build solutions that are clear, relevant, and execution-ready.
